The outdoor area of the botanical garden of the University of Hamburg in Klein Flottbek is with its almost 25 hectares one of the largest botanical gardens in Germany. In addition to the cultural connection between humans and plants, the plant world of numerous regions of the world is presented.

The collection greenhouses in Klein Flottbek serve to house and supply the scientific living collections such as those of the Midday Flower family, Bromeliads and the genus Amorphophallus, among others.

The display greenhouses, part of the botanical garden of the University of Hamburg, are located on the grounds of Planten un Blomen and present a variety of tropical and subtropical plants. Currently, the greenhouses are closed for the long term due to renovation.
